Description
Problem: The overarching business goal we needed to achieve for Premier was to drive more qualified prospects to the e-commerce website using methods other than pay per click advertising. Solution: Creating a blog with useful, keyword rich content set Premier on the path toward creating a sustainable position in the search engine results. In the first month of the blog's existence, it represented 10% of online traffic to the site. With the addition of more content in the future, it will likely continue to bring in targeted prospects.
Technology
- Custom built Wordpress theme to match the ecommerce site.
- Tested and renders properly in all standard compliant browsers, plus IE6/7/8
CUSTOM SEO ENHANCEMENTS: - Source ordered content. Simply, this puts the content before before extraneous information such as the sidebar, for better crawlability be search engine spiders.
- DHTML Javascript menu. Normally javascript tends to be bad for search engines because it obscures and prevents the search engines from crawling the links. However, if you visit seo-browser, you'll see the menu links are not obscured, therefore able to be indexed.
- Individual post titles are wrapped in H1 tags, not the default H2.
- No follow, no index of tags, rss feeds, etc. to prevent duplicate content penalties.
